Mission Statement: We teach because we believe that martial arts mind-body discipline is a path to a fitter self and a more confident self. From energetic youth who want to fly high and kick, to teens who need a confidence boost, women who need vital self-defense skills, and adults who want fitness, discipline, and a mental challenge: we welcome ALL students at Northwest School of Martial Arts!

Community Matters: We are a community-minded, family-friendly martial arts school. We have been serving the Stanwood, Washington area since 1988. Currently partnered with the Stanwood Freemasons Society, we teach from the Stanwood Mason Hall. We believe in supporting local businesses and community associations.

NWSMA instructors teach with genuine enthusiasm for martial arts and a passion for making a difference in people’s lives. Chief Instructor, Sabumnim/Sensei Doris Eastbury, has over 30 years of martial arts experience, and Head Senior Instructor/Manager Caitlin Pratt has over 20 years.

We Teach: Seito Shito-ryu Karate, Chung Moo Kwan Tae Kwon Do, and Modern Arnis. Our martial arts programs all focus equally on self-defense, traditional techniques, physical fitness, and mental discipline.

Through martial arts mind-body discipline, we teach leadership and interpersonal skills to our youth. We emphasize non-violence, self-respect, and building habits of excellence. We encourage students to work hard, be humble, and display good teamwork and indomitable “Black Belt Attitude.”

How long does it take to get a black belt in one of our styles?

Site Administrator: The site is maintained by Sensei Yudanjanim Caitlin. She has been with NWSMA since 2002. She is a senior instructor, school manager, and lifetime student of the martial arts. She holds a 1st degree black belt in ITF Tae Kwon Do and a 2nd degree black belt in Chung Moo Kwan Tae Kwon Do.

Welcome to NWSMA! 😀
