A Little Self Confidence Goes a Long Way

People who are looking to take advantage of others can spot a lack of self confidence a mile away. Lacking self confidence screams, “Victim!” to bad guys and bullies, who are looking for an easy target.

It’s hard to quantify something like confidence, but we can all tell who has it and who doesn’t. Harder still is gaining self confidence, which often means defeating negative mental habits.

Nothing like a board break to increase self confidence! (Don’t try this at home please!)

Here are 3 easy tips for increasing your self confidence and self-esteem.

1. Identify your strengths, your successes, and the things you have and are grateful for. Teach yourself to see the glass half-full, and you’ll be surprised at how much it will lift your mood.

2. Walk confidently, with good posture. Don’t look at the ground, pay attention to the things around you. Strong eye contact is often enough to put potential bullies or bad guys off your scent.

3. Exercise. Exercise releases feel-good chemicals in your body, and staying in shape will boost your self-image and keep you healthy.

We recommend a martial arts program for exercise. Not only will you get a fantastic workout, but you’ll also learn self defense skills that will make you naturally confident because you don’t have to walk around in fear. Not only that, but working towards and achieving goals (like belt ranks or weight loss goals) will also help you stay positive and happy.
